Here is a quick guide of how to do this:
First of all your image should be hosted on the Internet somewhere. Websites like Photobucket provide a very good easy to use service. However, unfortunately you will need an account but its free.
Once you have uploaded the image right click on it and select 'properties', copy the 'properties' URL address which should look something like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/coolskelto/Metro/1.jpg
Next, you have to place your image into a post, so click the 'IMG' code button at the top of the new topic page and paste in the URL from the image. It will look like this:
[IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/coolskelto/Metro/1.jpg[/IMG]
...But will appear in your text when you post the topic, like this:

Basically, as long as the Internet 'address' of your image is surrounded by these tags you'll be ok.
[IMG](ADDRESS GOES HERE)[/IMG]
However, just remember to try not to post-up massive images in terms of size, as this will slow the whole forum down. Remember that some people are using a 56k dial-up connections and will have to wait ages for an image to load!
