Just hunting around on the net mainly. I used to belong to a Torrent Racing video site, could download just about every F1 GP since 1980, Season reviews, rally & touring car films etc. But it got taken down due to greedy people within F1 who went round closing down such sites. Was nice to have them in all in place, but now if I want to find a video it takes ages hunting for them. Google video is very handy too.

Thats a shame.

I love the way that in the GT40 video the Mulsanne straights barrier is a row of trees with what looks like pillows attached to them! 240mph into a tree wouldnt be very nice!

Check the running time of the file is 1hour 4mins or there abouts. Are you using Windows Media Player, sometimes that doesn't download the "codec" required to play the video and just plays the sound.

Try downloading this player: Media Player Classic

Should play it no problem, and if it needs anything new to play a file, it will tell you where to download it.

Yes it sounds like you do not have the right codec to play it. Try Media Player Classic or look out for K-lite codec package. I've always found that to be a goodun as all it does is install lots of codecs (inc. MP3 I must add) into Windows Media Player.
