Rather than finish off the beetle (waiting for ross to find a turbo SU :P ) I've decided to get on with the engine swap in my scirocco. I got it from Brett drove it two miles and it blow a hose. Brett thought the head gasket had gone, but it is infact the oilcooler blowing oil straight into the coolant. Never mind only need the head now anyway :D

Here is what it looks like currently...

whats with the towing electrics on the back? has it had a light rear tap as that back bumper looks slightly misshapen? what engine are you putting in it, or are you just repairing what you got?

If it's got an engine, I can tune it.

I see you've been hard at it. Good luck with it :good:

You could always fit the Audi 18T engine :D "Rocket power" for a scirocco :P

No idea about that tow thing it'll be removed shortly, its pretty knocked about. Thats why it will be getting an all over coat of NATO - Light Stone(Desert)

Engine wise its getting a 2L bottom end from a J reg audi 80. Also a bit of a drop and some black and polished manta 14" 5 spoke rims :P

So much more space in that garage without a silver beetle :P

I can vouch for the coolness of this car! my missus was well pissed off when she found out that it wasnt this car we'd come to buy and that it was doctor schpitzenfahrts (beetles new name).

Adam.... are you sure you want to slap that desert camo on it? It really does look way too cool in blue and as much as im a fan of army paint schemes i really think the blue is best.

p.s. found an su but dont know if its one of the turbo ones or not yet so i'll check the numbers and get back to you

Paint wise, it's pretty shabby, bumpers have been painted without a decent filler so they're peeling. body kit has lost a lot of paint and theres a few bits of rust showing here and there. Must be time for a poll then...

:P

It would look good with the bumpers etc back to the origional colour - Bit of an odd ball car really - no real rust on it, buit its had more previous owners than a tramps breakfast and the bodywork was pretty shabby.

Are the people at Mcdonalds speaking to you again? :P

Cool :B

You gonna give it any other tweaks? I'd recommend fitting brakes from a later Golf or summat if you get a chance.

I believe what you want is the front setup from a 5-cylinder mk2 passat although don't quote me on that! :o

small update...

tyres arrived - BF Goodrich - Profiler 2 - 185/60's 14"
alloys are off to spit'n'polish tomorrow.
and yesterday myself and fellow car enthusiast "trev" extracted the donor engine from its stupidly well built house...

[attachment=3944:Adam___S...April_07.JPG]

here we are looking happy that it only took 2hrs to get it out this time.
would have been less if audi hadn't hidden a bolt between the subframe and gearbox :D

I'm now building up the block and cleaning all the various bits ready to plonk it in this weekend

Looks very cool :P What happened to 'it'll be finished before February'? LoL!

What else do you have planned? Sticking with the stock exhaust or going for something more fruity?
