thought id start one of these let you all know what im doing/got planned.

first of all its a standard '77 chevette hatch with a 1256cc OHV lump.
heres some pics:








things ive already got:
hsr bonnet

auto gauges tacho

set of ro-styles that need a refurb and im goign to paint white like these


also got a pair of luke 4 point harnesses and goodridge hoses in the house

as for the engine for the time being its staying with the 1256 but further down the line im going to change it all for a 12s engine and box from the kadett c. it wont be a standard one as im going to build up a fairly high spec engine. was looking at bigger engines but the work that was required and the costs involved were to much as i dont have the space and time.

other things im looking at getting are an ashley system, cage, buckets as well as a hs front air dam and a rear tail gate spoiler.

still unsure weather to strip it all out and have a full rally prepped looking car or leave the trim in and have it more of a road rally looking car.

does need a few bits and bobs sorting out but other than that it is fine.

Should be wicked when its done, nice project.

strip the intrior out, but carpet over the bare paintwork. looks like its 'stripped out', but it'll be a bit quieter, and have a more comfy feel. that and the fact carpet is more hardwearing than bare paint so no worries about scratches etc when you chuck your camping gear in for a show

have a look at changing the engine for a 1600 corsa or similar?

ive bought and picked up my bucket seats, corbeau forza's in red. mint as, £80 for the pair and they were just 10mins up the road, bargin!.


the only mark is on the drivers seat:


the guy i had them off had a relly relly nice mk1 golf, it was stunning. ever little mod he'ed done just looked like it should be there.

as for stripping it out, if i do get involved in road rallying then i would have to have all the intrior in the car.

as for a 1600 corsa engine or something, the axel is only good from around 100 bhp (ive beeen told) so would have to change that, box and alot of other parts. as for any engine mods im now looking at getting a standard 1256 and getting that to a fairly high spec and dropping that it, means that the only thing i need to change is the engine itself and nothing else. i now thats nnot the best BHP:£ ratio but that way it saves alot of hastle and using uni's facilites, machine shop, flow bench etc etc i could possibly do alot of the work myself.

just ordered an ashely 2" exhaust system from rally design. my mate is gonna sort the sill out for me on the weekend and have a check see if theres any thing ill need doing for the mot which is out middle of next month.

they just foned, they didnt have one in stock but they gettign one of ashley so should be with me in a few days. think i mite wait till my exams and everythign are over at the end of the month before i start going nuts and fitting everythign other wise uni aint gonna get a look in.

just watch the fitting on ashley exhausts they can be tricky in my expirence (with mk1 escorts) there terrible ive even had to heat them up and bend um !!!

got my mate to do a mot check to see what would need doing etc and it wasnt as bad as i expected, i knew the sill needed welding (been sorted now) but there were a few other bits dotted around the car that needed doing. rear brake shos need changeing and the passenger side steering rack boot was split, other than that it was ok. so been over to gmf asked about getting hold of parts etc and they will let me know later. while i was there got new plugs, leads, dizzy cap and a load of other servicing stuff.

the other day my mate doing the welding had a slight accident which resulted in it catching fire.
not a total loss was mostly in the boot and was only really trim stuff that got damaged.
what annoying is the fact that it was the last patch of weld that needed doing, whats happened is that a spark has landed on/around one of the fuel lines and just gone up.
i popped down my mates the other day to see what carnage he had caused and it wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be but it wasnt great!

I'm glad there was nothing to catch fire, when I welded up my rear doors, so I thought
But "Dam" . why was there foam on the inside of the outer door skin Never mind , just a little smoke. But worring at the time :shock:
