I collected a new project on Thursday, a metro 1.3 clubman (and one of the very last).

So here it is as collected

It's been sat on the inlaws drive for the last 3 1/2 year, hadn't ben started in the last 2 years (at least) so the tyres where flat and the battery was total dead. But with some ai in the tyres and a jump pack, it fired up 3rd turn of the key :P
Now its had a quick wash

It looks 10 times better. It needs a bit of body work. The worst bit is the scuttle around the passenger wiper (its rotted through) but that looks quite a simple patch, there is some bubbling around the sunroof and the rear arches are a bit crusty (pus the farther in law tried to repaint them a 5 years ago : ;)

It's already got some MG pepperpots to go on, but what colour to paint them
Silver

or black

the plan is that once pootle (my track mini) is built and on teh road (hopefully next month) then the mtero will go up to the lock-up via a MOT station (to keep it all legit) and be prepaired for daily use from October (when the tax runs out on my cooper S and I can then tuck that away in my garage over winter to keep it safe from the nasty salt)

the only mod's planned for it are the pepperpots and a serious beating with the stick (90-100mm should do it nicely :P )

the silver is growing on me, that's for sure. Free is indeed the best price, and £50 for 5 pepperpots with yoko's and nuts wasn't too bad either ;) i think the rubbing strips will be lost with the stickers (got a heat gun atteh lock-up which will sort them out)

I need to get a new door handle for the drives side, are the 3dr on 5dr ones the same??

I'll warn you now, the rubbing strip glue is bloody tough and actually pulled some of the paint off the doors when I tried to remove it on my first Metro.
