Couldn't find the modern rides forum, has it vanished?

Here's what's stopping me getting to work on the 205 GTi :

fitted with one of these :

It's a 3.0 all alloy V6.
LSD equipped with longer ST182 FD gearbox.
F355 exhaust.
30mm lowered suspension.
225 rear and 205 front tyres.
Custom gear selectors, rear braces, subframe, engine mounts, torque mounts and manifolds.

205bhp and 210lb/ft out of the box.

Should be back on it's wheels and ready for wiring and firing next Saturday. :D

Ooo I like that a lot! & I hope you broke that 355 for the exhaust :D

Yes we removed the modern section awhile ago because people very rarely used it.

Oh just curious but how heavy are those Toyota V6s?

Well, if it was me, i'd go for an Alfa 3.0/3.2 V6.

My cousin was round, he's daft on rallying and has talked of building a Mk1 Mr2 tarmac rally car, for that i'll be using the Alfa engine, the osund is utterly amazing. Not that the Camry engines don't sound good, the alfa engines just sound soooo much nicer.

Filled the car up with coolant today, fans are cutting in and out at the right time, and it sits at a nice temp. Idle's sitting at 2k but i've still to clean the ISCV, that should drop it back to about 1k.

Coupla vids with it up to temp. Listen to this thing sing :)

Wish the camera could pick up the whole noise, it's braw!

That looks (and sounds) like a really nice combination. I like it.

Agree about the Alfa V6s too, one of the nicest sounding and pretty engines around. I once came very close to building a whole Alfa 3 litre drivetrain mid mounted into the back of a Skoda Estelle of all things.

Car's now MOT'd, just needs taxed, along with the Celica and the CRV at the end of the month :)

Got it home though and here's another little vid of how it sounds:

That's awesome. How much do you guys charge for this sort of conversion? Or is a personal project?

This one is mine mate, but we do these conversions, as well as just about any other engine conversion you care to dream up, for customers too.

For this engine in a Mk3 Mr2 you're looking at £3,500. Which includes :

1MZ alloy engine, new head gaskets and full engine detail.
Mk2 N/A gearbox
Turbo flywheel and hybrid clutch
Induction kit
Custom gear linkages and selector assembly
Re-worked engine bay, painted to colour of your choice
Custom engine and torque mounts
Custom downpipes to connect to backbox
All oils, coolants etc, any sundries required.

Takes me 3/4 weeks to do a full conversion but the results are pretty fecking awesome! And the value of your Mr2 goes up, can't say fairer than that.

I'll also put a V6/V8 in your Mx5, V8 into your 240Z (one day :) ) 2.0 turbo/V6 into your Peugeot, K20/24 swaps, just about anything you like.

Most conversions you're looking at the cost of the parts plus 3/4 weeks labour. It's the one thing that makes getting up in the morning worthwhile, transforming someones car and handing it back to them for the 1st time. Magic. :(

So if anyone's got a daft idea running around in their head, feel free to drop me a pm/email and i'll happily discuss options with you.

Should see some movement on here soon with a certain members car.

It's a shame you're so far away from me or I would have a chat about helping me out with my Imp.
