Just wondering, do you do the whole trip there in one day? and if so roughly how long does it take?

Nurburg is pretty much just over the border into Germany. Some people say they can get there from the ferry in about 3&1/2 hours. We took about 5 hours each way through Belgium but missing Brussels rush hour.

Yeah if you take the Belgium route and avoid the nightmare Brussles ring road, allow about 5 hours for a steady cruise down.

Costs wise - about £160 for the ferry, camping and run pack. Extra passengers will have to pay for their camping at about £70 each for the week and they could also then help you out with the ferry cost and obviously pay half of the fuel costs.

Last year, in my 2.0 Turbo, I used about a tank full to get there and a tank to get back. If you're driving hard around the ring then allow about a gallon per lap. Budget £500 and you should be well covered for everything, travel, beer and food included B)

This is the route which most people take, it's about 300 miles from when you get off the ferry. It importantly avoids Brussels which if caught at the wrong time of day, can be a nightmare!

Application forms are now ready.

Delmastiff will help you with applications through this site.

We can't be 100% firm on final costs yet, as we don't know whether we definitely have the ring to ourselves for our closed session. However; I can anounce an indicative total (hopefully tonight) and this will assume that we have the ring time. If we don't have the ring time, then the costs will obviously reduce slightly from our initial indication.

I will need to get deposits in ASAP, as we need to book the ferry places (and pay for them) by the 30th March to qualify for our current ferry price. This means that if you are paying by cheque, we need that cheque by around the 21st/22nd March. If paying by paypal, we will need payment by around the 24th March, so any payments can clear into the BH2N Retro Run account.

Sorry about this, but we can't be definite with the ring until the end of this month.

I have 8 applications so far, with a list of "potential runners" currently at around 40 people.

As Delmastiff has stated, the costs are likely to be similar to last year, but we do have an extra day's camping on the run this time, so expect maybe an extra tenner for that.

Looking forward to seeing some of the guys from last year again, plus some of the new guys that are looking at signing up.

For info:

There is a Travelodge at Thurrock on the M25. Quite a few people opt to stay there on the night before the run. We do go all the way to Nurburg in one day. It's not a killer. Expect an hours drive from Brands to Dover, then 2 hours chilling/socialising on the ferry. After that, I'd say it's sensible to allow for 5 hours to get to the campsite. The ferry time is 10:00 outbound, so we hit Dunkirk at around 13:00 local time. This means that we get to the camp site for around 18:00.

Looks like you need to belong to TMF to gain access to the booking form, can we get it on our Retro C.C. forum ??
Cheers, Colin.

Sorry guys, I should have though of that already.

Please see attached form.

If anyone has any special requests in terms of payments, or exceptions (ie; Vauxsenb not going on our ferry), please contact either myself or Delmastiff and we will be happy to talk you through the options.

We have had a couple more applications over night. But we still have plenty of spaces (around 40 left).

I do need deposit monies cleared in the account by the end of March to be able to book the ferry at the current fare, so if you're thinking of coming, now's the time to sign up.

If you do miss that deadline, we're not saying that you can't come, just that the ferry may be slightly more expensive. I can't quantify how much more expensive (if at all), but I'm just letting you know what the ferry company have told me.

It sure will!

Right guys, just posted this up on the mini forum. It's still only an indicative cost, but it's only fair to get it out here as well as on TMF. We've had a few deposits in so far (12), so please try not to miss your place on the run.

Quote

We can only give you an indicative cost at the moment.

I will state the highest it should be;

Worst case is £170 per driver (applicant) plus worst case £90 for passenger (up to a maximum of three). We have an extra day's camping this year, so that's the reason for the increase really.

Sorry that's all we can give you at the moment, but we're working on it, I promise.

Well hopefully I will be running a bigger engine by then.
Looking at getting fitted a 2.2 CIH with kent cam, weber 38 dgas carb, ported manifold and other goodies I am sure, vauxsenb will know more about the spec than I will but I spoke to Billy our engine builder yesterday and it will be getting fitted next month :) .
He reckons it should be running about 130bhp so well up on my one which was rated at 90bhp 32 years ago.
Cannae wait now to get round the ring in it.
Ta,
Deano.
